Some fun facts about Du Shen

You can see my dedication to technology and human rights issues reflected in my research interests. Beyond my research and work, I actively engage in civic activities and provide support and services for LGBTQ+ and HIV+ communities.

I’ve lived with a speech impediment for over 20 years and continue to challenge myself to grow beyond it. If you’ve had similar experiences, I’d love to connect and exchange tips!

When I’m not working or volunteering, you’ll probably find me watching films, gaming, or enjoying the outdoors.

• 🎥 I’m a huge fan of directors 이창동 Lee Chang-dong/Pedro Almodóvar/楊德昌Edward Yang and love thought-provoking cinema. During my time in London, I basically lived in  the Prince Charles Cinema or the Garden Cinema.

• 🎮In the gaming world, League of Legends: Wild Rift is my go-to escape—I main Seraphine and Swain and have proudly reached Challenger rank.

• 🏞️I enjoy tennis🎾, badminton🏸, and hiking, especially in the fall when I go persimmon-picking🌳 with my family in my rural hometown—a tradition I cherish.

• 📸I’m a Polaroid and film camera enthusiast, capturing life’s fleeting moments in a non-digital way (and then, ironically, digitizing them one by one). Below are some of my favorite snapshots—I hope they spark some inspiration!
